So let's talk granola.  There are approximately one million different kinds of granola. There is no one granola that can satisfy the demands of granola lovers everywhere.  Why am I offering this granola?  I think it is special, I think it is unique.  Most granolas start with a base of rolled oats.  They can be sweetened with any combination of maple syrup, brown sugar, honey or other sweeteners.  Then comes some combination of seeds, nuts, and or dried fruits.  Here is where the maker has to make some decisions!  My recipe starts with old fashioned rolled oats, adds maple syrup for that maple-y flavor and some brown sugar for sweetness (but not too sweet!).  The brown sugar also helps to make a deeply browned (crunchy) product.  And then I add pecans, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds for crunch, flavor, and a nice nutritional punch.  So far, it is like so many other granolas.  Here the unique part: I also add some extra virgin olive oil and a bit of course sea salt!  Note that the addition of the olive oil does not turn this into a savory treat!  I believe the bit of olive oil pulls it back from being too sweet.  It is still "maple forward" tasting but there is something about the olive oil and the sea salt that pulls the whole thing together to make it interesting, unique, and most important, delicious!  If you like granola, this one is worth a try!  $9.50 for 12oz.
